Plain-English definitions for the terminology used across Tactical Review.
- American Odds
- Odds expressed as a positive or negative number; positive shows profit on a $100 bet, negative shows amount needed to win $100.
- Arbitrage
- Placing bets on all possible outcomes with different bookmakers to guarantee a profit regardless of result.
- Asian Handicap
- A handicap bet that removes the draw option and splits the stake across two possible outcomes.
- Bankroll
- The total amount of money set aside for betting, used to manage risk and stakes.
- Bonus Code
- An alphanumeric string entered when claiming a promotion to unlock a bonus.
- Both Teams to Score
- A bet on whether both sides will score at least one goal during the match.
- Cashout
- A feature that lets you settle a bet before the event ends, locking in a profit or loss.
- Decimal Odds
- Odds expressed as a single number that includes your stake; multiplying your bet by this number gives total return.
- Deposit Limit
- A cap set on how much money you can deposit into your account within a chosen period.
- Fractional Odds
- Odds shown as a fraction, such as 5/1; the numerator shows profit relative to the denominator stake.
- Free Bet
- A no-cost bet credit given by the bookmaker, usually with conditions attached.
- Futures
- A bet on an event that will be decided later, such as which team wins the World Cup.
- Hedge
- Betting on the opposite outcome to reduce risk or lock in a profit on an existing bet.
- In-Play Betting
- Placing a bet on a match while it is ongoing, with odds that change as the game progresses.
- Juice
- The commission charged by the bookmaker, usually built into the odds, also called vigorish.
- KYC
- Know Your Customer; the process of verifying a player's identity and age to meet legal requirements.
- Moneyline
- A bet on which team will win the match, with odds showing how much you win or must risk.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals or points in a match will be higher or lower than a set number.
- Parlay
- A single bet that combines two or more selections; every selection must win for the parlay to pay.
- Point Spread
- A bet that assigns a margin of victory to the favorite, so they must win by more than that margin for the bet to win.
- Self-Exclusion
- A voluntary ban that prevents you from betting on the site for a set time.
- Stake
- The amount of money you wager on a bet.
- Value Bet
- A bet where the odds offered are higher than the true probability suggests, giving an edge.
- Wagering Requirement
- The number of times you must bet a bonus before you can withdraw any winnings.
